In 2025, I became the owner of a unique family archive of slides. Inside, I found an amazing collection of images of the Soviet elite: luxurious shots of diplomatic life abroad coexisted with simple, warm scenes of Moscow everyday life, mushroom picking, and family coziness. The head of this family was an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Soviet Union. One particular photo caught my attention—it featured a man strikingly similar to Yuri Gagarin.
Unfortunately, I did not find any more photos of Yuri Gagarin in the archive, but there are few photos of Sirimavo Bandaranaike, a historical figure as the first woman to become head of government in the world, and Australian diplomats, who have not yet been researched by me.
For me, as a photographer, this archive has become a true time machine. I feel a responsibility to preserve and share this story so that its memory does not fade away over time.
